leaves. Young shoots
hairy. Leaves 4 - 10 cm long, 1.5 - 3.5 cm wide, dark
green
and glabrous
above,
hairy on the margin and the midrib, paler and glossy
green beneath. Flowers
in terminal clusters in June. Flowers purplish to orange-red,
2 cm long with two reflexed lips. Fruits black. Hardy.
Height to 4 - 5 metres with a spreading
habit. Expect 30 - 60 cm growth a year. A honeysuckle native
to Western China.
